10 Best Search Engines in the World

What are the best and most popular search engines in the World? Besides Google and Bing there are several other search engines that may not be so well known but still serve millions of search requests per day.

Google is not the only search engine available on the Internet today! In fact, there are some search engines that want to target Google’s level, but none of the search engines are ready (yet) to even pose a threat of competition with Google.

You need to know, there are still so many other search engines besides Google. But here I will only discuss the top 10 search engines that are worthy of your use.

1. Google
No need to introduce further. This search engine giant holds the first position in internet searches with an astonishing difference of 66% of the second in Bing.

According to the latest netmarketshare report (December 2019), 75.34% of searches are supported by Google and only 9.97% by Bing.

Google also dominates the search engine market share on smartphones / tablets with 82.41%!

2. Baidu
Baidu was founded in 2000 and is the most popular search engine in China. Its market share continues to increase and according to Wikipedia, Baidu serves billions of search requests per month. Currently ranked 4th, Alexa Ranking.

3. Bing
Bing is a breakthrough and Microsoft’s attempt to challenge Google in the global internet search field, but despite their efforts it still does not succeed in convincing users that their search engine can produce better results than Google.

4. Yahoo
Since October 2011 Yahoo search is supported by Bing. Yahoo is still the most popular email provider and according to reports holds the fourth place in search.

5. Yandex.ru
According to Alexa, Yandex.ru is one of the 30 most popular websites on the Internet with a ranking of 4 in Russian.

Yandex presents itself as a technology company that builds smart products and services supported by machine learning. According to Wikipedia, Yandex operates the largest search engine in Russia with around 65% market share in the country.

6. Ask.com
Previously known as Ask Jeeves, Ask.com received about 0.05% of the global internet search share. ASK is based on a question / answer format in which most questions are answered by other users or in the form of polls.

It also has a general search function but the results return are of less quality compared to Google or even Bing and Yahoo.

7. DuckDuckGo
Has a number of advantages compared to other search engines. It has a clean interface, doesn’t track users, isn’t full of advertisements and has a number of very good features (only one page of results, you can search directly for other websites etc.).

I am sure that some duckduckgo features will be used by other search engines and with some proper funding, duckduckgo can get a decent search engine market share.

8. Naver
Naver (derived from the word navigation) is currently the number one search engine in Korea and accounts for more than 70% of the search market there. The search engine was launched in 1999 by a group of former Samsung employees and has dominated the Korean search industry ever since.

If you haven’t visited the Naver page, what might be implied is how similar it is to Yahoo. The Naver homepage and search results page are much busier than Google, with lots of images, flash banners, sections and so on.

9. AOL
According to the long time famous netmarketshare AOL is still in the top 10 search engines with a market share of close to 0.04%. The AOL network includes many popular websites such as engadget.com, techchrunch.com, and huffingtonpost.com.

10. Dogpile
Dogpile is a metasearch engine, which means that it gets results from several search engines and directories and then presents them to users. Dogpile currently gets results from Google, Yahoo, Bing, and more.

According to Dogpile, their metasearch technology “can search 50% more of the Web than a single search engine”, as evaluated by independent search engine experts who verify their methodology and validate that their metasearch technology can retrieve 50% or more additional results.

As a final word, if you search for “What is the best search engine?” In one of the search engines listed above, you will get an answer that Google is the best and most popular search engine and Baidu is in second place (at the global level).

These are the 10 best search engines on the Internet today.

The list of the best search engines is by no means complete and there will certainly be many more to be made in the future but as far as the top positions are concerned, Google and Bing will hold the lead position for years to come.
